Google Workspace API disclosure. The use of information received from Google Workspace APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Kernelie does not use data obtained through Google Workspace APIs to develop, improve, or train non-personalized AI and/or ML models.
1. Who we are
Kernelie LLC (“Kernelie,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the family organization service available at https://www.kernelie.com and Kernelie for iPhone (together, the “Service”). The Service is designed for parents and other adult caregivers.

2. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to personal information about (a) adult account holders and invited caregivers, and (b) children whose profiles an adult creates or manages in the Service. We do not offer accounts to children under 13. How we treat children’s information is described in Section 13 and in our COPPA Compliance statement.
3. Information we collect
We collect the categories below. We do not ask for your phone number or home address.
Account and profile
- Email address, name, password or authentication credentials, and optional profile photo.
- Account preferences (for example notification settings and selected child).
Family and child profiles (provided by you)
- Information you enter about a child, which may include name, date of birth, grade, gender, and activity types or tags you choose.
- Caregiver names, emails, and roles when you invite family members to a child’s profile.
Calendar and coordination
- Events you create in Kernelie (title, time, location, description, assignees, viewers, recurrence).
- If you connect a calendar: events imported from Google Calendar, an ICS feed, or your device calendar (EventKit on iOS), plus connection identifiers needed to keep those calendars in sync.
Health, growth, and school records
- Information you log, such as sleep, mood, activity, nutrition, height/weight, health notes or conditions, academic courses and grades, and extracurricular activities.
- Scores and summaries we compute from that logged data.
Kernelie is not a healthcare provider and is not a covered entity or business associate under HIPAA. Health-related notes you log are family records you create, not a medical chart we maintain for a clinician.
Community
- Forum posts, replies, nicknames, and votes. Public community pages may display moderated posts and replies to anyone on the internet, including search engines.
AI features
- Prompts and conversation content you send to the assistant, plus the family context the feature needs to answer (for example child names, upcoming events, or logged health/growth data you already stored).
- Outputs we generate (insights, calendar match suggestions, moderation flags).
Payments
- Subscription status and entitlement. Card numbers are processed by Apple (App Store) or our web billing provider (RevenueCat and its payment processor). We do not store full payment card numbers.
Device, usage, and support
- IP address, browser or app version, device type, crash and diagnostic logs.
- Push notification device tokens on iOS.
- Messages you send to support, including the email address you provide.
- Usage and diagnostic data (for example sign-up, feature use, and app version) to operate and improve the Service.
4. Google user data (Sign-In and Calendar)
This section applies when you choose Sign in with Google and/or connect Google Calendar. It describes only data received from Google OAuth and Google Calendar APIs (together, “Google user data”).
Limited Use commitment
Kernelie's use of Google user data is limited to providing and improving user-facing features in the Service. We do not use Google user data for any other purpose.
Kernelie does not use data obtained through Google Workspace APIs to develop, improve, or train non-personalized AI and/or ML models.
What Google user data we access
- Google Sign-In: email address, name, profile picture (if available), and Google account identifier — to create or sign you into your Kernelie account.
- Google Calendar (only if you connect it): calendar event details (title, time, location, description, recurrence), calendar identifiers, and OAuth tokens needed to sync events you choose to import or update.
How we use Google user data (permitted uses only)
We use Google user data solely to provide and improve user-facing Kernelie functionality:
- Sign-in, account creation, and account security.
- Importing, displaying, editing, assigning, and syncing calendar events in the Kernelie calendar.
- Calendar reminders and notifications you enable.
- Operating and debugging the Google Calendar connection you authorized.
Prohibited uses of Google user data
Kernelie does not use Google user data for any of the following:
- Targeted, personalized, retargeted, interest-based, or user advertising.
- Selling to data brokers or providing to information resellers.
- Determining credit-worthiness or lending purposes.
- Creating databases for marketing or unrelated profiling.
- Developing, improving, or training non-personalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models (including generalized models used for other users).
We do not send Google OAuth access tokens, Google OAuth refresh tokens, or raw Google Calendar API responses to analytics providers or other third parties except as described in this section.
Sharing and transfers of Google user data
We do not sell Google user data. We do not transfer Google user data to third parties for advertising, data-broker, reseller, credit, lending, or AI/ML model-training purposes.
We may share Google user data only with infrastructure providers that store or transmit it on our behalf strictly to operate sign-in and calendar sync (for example encrypted database hosting). Those providers may not use Google user data for their own purposes. Google user data is not transferred to AI or machine-learning providers.
Retention, security, and deletion of Google user data
Google OAuth tokens and synced calendar data are stored using encrypted connections and access controls while your account is active and the connection remains enabled. You may disconnect Google Calendar in settings at any time. You may delete your Kernelie account from Profile Settings. When you disconnect or delete your account, we remove or de-identify associated Google connection data from the live Service, subject to backups and legal retention described in Section 9.
4a. Sign in with Apple
This section applies when you choose Sign in with Appleon Kernelie for iPhone or the website. It describes only data received from Apple's Sign in with Apple service.
What Sign in with Apple data we access
- Email address — the address Apple shares, or a Hide My Email private-relay address if you choose to hide your email. Used to create or sign you into your Kernelie account and to send transactional messages.
- Name — only if you share it on first authorization. Apple sends the name once or not at all.
- Apple user identifier— Apple's stable user id for this app, used as the lookup key so the same Apple credential signs you back in.
We do not receive your Apple ID password. We do not use Sign in with Apple data for advertising.
5. How we use information
- Provide, maintain, and secure the Service, including sign-in and family sharing.
- Show calendars, health and growth records, and community discussions you participate in.
- Send in-app and push notifications you enable (replies, assignments, reminders, calendar suggestions).
- Generate optional AI insights, assistant replies, and calendar suggestions when you use those features.
- Process subscriptions, prevent fraud, and comply with law.
- Understand how the Service is used and improve reliability and features. Google user data from Sign-In or Google Calendar is not used for this purpose (see Section 4).
- Respond to support requests and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not use children’s profile information to market to children.
6. Artificial intelligence
Optional Premium AI features (assistant, generated insights, and in-app calendar suggestions) process content you type and family records you store in Kernelie. Data obtained through Google Workspace APIs is not sent to AI or machine-learning providers and is not used to develop, improve, or train non-personalized AI and/or ML models. When you use AI features, we may send your prompts and relevant Kernelie-stored context to Google Gemini solely to return that feature's output to you. On iOS we ask for permission before family context is shared with Gemini; you can change this in Profile → Privacy & Security. AI output can be wrong; it is not medical, legal, or professional advice.
7. How we share information
We share information with the people you choose (for example a caregiver you invite, or an event assignee) and with service providers who process data for us, including:
- Supabase — hosting, database, and authentication.
- Google — Sign-In and Google Calendar when you connect those services (see Section 4). Gemini receives only Kernelie-stored content you send through AI features, not Google Workspace API data (see Section 6).
- Apple — Sign in with Apple (email or Hide My Email relay, name if you share it, and Apple user identifier); App Store billing; and push notifications on Kernelie for iPhone.
- RevenueCat (and its payment processor) — subscription status on web and iOS.
- PostHog — product analytics to operate and improve the Service.
- Resend (or similar email providers) — transactional email such as support and calendar notices.
- Vercel — website hosting.
We confirm that any third party with whom we share user data (the providers listed above) will provide the same or equal protection of user data as stated in this privacy policy and required by the App Store Review Guidelines.
We may also disclose non-Google personal information if required by law, to protect Kernelie LLC or others from harm or fraud, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice where required. Google user data is not transferred in asset transactions without your explicit consent, consistent with Google's Limited Use requirements.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are used under California law.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
The website uses cookies and local storage that are needed to keep you signed in and remember basic preferences. PostHog may set cookies or similar identifiers for product analytics. You can block cookies in your browser; some features (especially sign-in) will not work without them. Kernelie for iPhone uses local storage and tokens on device rather than website cookies.
We do not use Flash cookies.
9. Retention
We keep account and family data while your account is active. If you delete a child profile, related records are removed from the live Service subject to backups and legal holds. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or de-identify personal data that we do not need to keep for security, dispute resolution, tax, or legal compliance (for example limited billing records). Public community posts may remain visible unless you or we remove them under our moderation rules.
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and hashed credentials. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please use a strong unique password and limit caregiver invitations to people you trust.
11. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access or receive a copy of personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information in the app (profiles, events, logs) or by emailing us.
- Delete your account from Profile → Delete Account in Kernelie for iPhone, or on the website from Profile Settings (settings menu → Profile Settings → Delete Account). See Support for step-by-step instructions. Email support@kernelie.com only if you need help.
- Opt out of non-essential notifications in settings.
- Disconnect Google Calendar or other calendar connections at any time.
- Disconnect or cancel Premium through Apple or the web billing portal, as described in the Terms.
California (CCPA/CPRA). California residents may request to know, delete, or correct personal information, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by those laws. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. Submit requests to support@kernelie.com. We may need to verify your identity (for example via your account email). You may use an authorized agent as permitted by law.
EEA/UK. If those laws apply to you, we process data to perform our contract with you, with your consent where required, and for legitimate interests such as securing and improving the Service. You may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port data, and to object to certain processing. Contact support@kernelie.com. You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
12. International transfers
We and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have different data-protection laws than your home country. By using the Service you understand that your information may be transferred to the United States.
13. Children
Kernelie is directed at adults. Children do not create their own Kernelie accounts. Information about a child is provided by a parent or legal guardian (or an adult caregiver that parent invites). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Details, parental rights, and how to request deletion are in our COPPA Compliance statement.
14. Third-party services
If you connect Google, Apple, or another third party, their terms and privacy policies apply to that connection. Links on our site (including public community pages) may go to sites we do not control.
15. Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, provide additional notice (for example in the app or by email) when required. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
